Biraja Temple

Biraja Temple, located in Jajpur, Odisha, is one of the ancient Shakti Peethas of India, dedicated to Goddess Biraja (Durga). The temple, dating back to the 13th century, is known for its beautiful architecture, stone carvings, and the idol of the 11-headed Goddess slaying Mahishasura. It attracts thousands of devotees during Durga Puja and Navaratri and holds great mythological and spiritual significance as the “Nabhigaya” where performing rituals for ancestors is considered sacred.
